Women of Worth

Women's Ministry

The Women’s Ministry of FOHC desires to glorify God by cultivating relationships with God and others to encourage growth and service.

May we encourage each other in…

Thanksgiving and Prayer

“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God…” – Colossians 1:10 (NIV)

Unity and Maturity in the Body of Christ

“Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.” – Ephesians 4:15 (NIV)

Living by the Spirit

“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'” – Galations 5:13-14 (NIV)

Summer 2024 Bible Study

Choosing Gratitude

It’s time for our Summer Bible study, Choosing Gratitude, by Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth. Classes will run from Sunday, June 2-August 4.  We will meet in the Fellowship Hall from 9:45-10:30.

Gratitude is a choice. If we fail to chose it, by default we choose ingratitude. And once allowed into the heart, ingratitude does not come by itself, but with other seedy companions that only succeed in stealing joy.

Derived from a popular Revive Our Hearts radio series, Choosing Gratitude: Your Journey to Joy challenges and equips the reader to live a life of intention, a life based on thankfulness for the freedom Christ has provided and for the blessings of others.

By intentionally thanking God and others, bitterness and entitlement are replaced with joy and the humble realization of just how undeserving we really are.

To not choose gratitude is more costly than we usually realize. When we do choose a lifestyle of heartfelt, humble gratitude, we are mindful of the benefits received from our gracious Savior and those He has placed around us, and our joy becomes full.

Apples of Gold – Suzanne Fruchtnicht

Based on Titus 2:3-5, this is a 8 week time of older women mentoring the younger ones on various topics. Come and experience “apples of gold in settings of silver” (Proverbs 25:11).

Bible Study – Multiple Leaders

In the Fall & Spring, we meet on Tuesday mornings and evenings to study God’s Word together via various Bible studies; we also spend time in prayer. Come and experience how the transforming of our minds, through Bible study, brings about conformity to the image of Christ.

AM Study Leaders: Debbie Keil & Susan Miller
PM Study Leaders: Paige Hollingsworth & Cindy Clarke

College Girls’ Bible Study – Jennifer Jones

Each semester, we meet every other Thursday evening to study God’s Word together. We also enjoy a time of sharing and praying. If you are college aged, then we hope you will join us to learn more about how God is calling us to live out these years as a young adult and to grow together in community. For more information, call or text Jennifer Jones at 979-219-9193.

Discipleship – Debbie Keil

This one-on-one type of Bible study and mentoring seeks to fulfill the Great Commission of “making disciples” (Matt.28:19). We have several trained ladies who are eager to share of their Savior’s life and love with you!

Meals – Georgie Berry

Families are ministered to in time of need as others in the church body prepare meals for them.

Make pillowcases for women and children in crisis.

Pillowcase Ministry – Debbie Keil

Pam Dyson collects material to make pillowcases for distribution to CASA, Creekside, Carriage Inn, and the Good Shepherd Mission. In eight years, FOHC has donated 1047 pillowcases. This is done as part of the American Patchwork & Quilting 1 Million Pillowcase Challenge. If you desire to be part of this ministry, you can do so in three ways:

  • Contribute money toward fabric and thread
  • Purchase one yard cuts of 100% cotton fabric (any color, print, or solid – adult and/or juvenile)
  • Help sew pillowcases

Fabric Donations — Pam will leave a basket to place fabric donations on the ledge between the cafe and the main lobby.

Will you help sew? Download the fabric requirements and pattern by clicking here.

For more information, text or call Pam at 281-844-3379, or you can email her at pamdyson@gmail.com.

Retreats – Kathy Hazlewood

Retreats are offered as a time of rest, renewal and revival. Guest speakers challenge and encourage us with God’s Word. This is an opportune time to “be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10).

Single Moms – Jennifer Jones & Debbie Keil

We love our single moms and desire to minister to them through scheduled lunches together as well as other practical ways to meet their needs.

Summer Ladies Sunday School – Georgie Berry & Susan Miller

In the “good ‘ole summer-time” we have a Sunday school just for our ladies! No matter what season of life you find yourself, you will be encouraged by various women of FOHC as they share some of their life stories. We enjoy light snacks along with heavy doses of God’s Word and God’s love.

Our weekly meeting involves Bible Study discussion and video, Praise & Worship and prayer time.

The W.A.S.H. ministry’s prayer for the women incarcerated at Walker County Jail:

  • That no woman leave without having been presented the Gospel and an opportunity to respond
  • That every woman know how greatly loved and valued she is by the God of the Universe
  • That an intimate spiritual walk with the Lord would begin in new or returning believers
  • That every woman know thru Jesus, she CAN be an overcomer of ANY chains that have her bound

Women’s 2023 Summer Sunday School Archives

The Summer of 2023…

… we dove into Dr. James Dobson’s book, When God Doesn’t Make Sense.”

Each week a different woman from our fellowship taught on the assurance of God’s constant care – even when human suffering is difficult to explain theologically or beyond our comprehension.

Our key verse this past Summer was “And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is.” – Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV)

Praise the Lord for yet another memorable Summer as we gathered and learned how to view trials as opportunities to grow nearer to God and stronger in our faith.
