Women of Worth
Hebrews 10:24-25 (NIV)
Women of Worth desire to glorify God by providing various ministries so that we may grow toward maturity in Christ, honoring Him in all seasons of life and in all environments; providing opportunities to connect and cultivate relationships with one another so that, ultimately, we are serving God according to our gifts.
Thanksgiving and Prayer
“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God…” – Colossians 1:10 (NIV)
Unity and Maturity in the Body of Christ
“Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.” – Ephesians 4:15 (NIV)
Life by the Spirit
“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'” – Galations 5:13-14 (NIV)

Descriptions of Ministries
Leaders and Their Ministries
Families are ministered to in time of need as others in the church body prepare meals for them.
Summer Ladies Sunday School
In the “good ‘ole summer-time” we have a Sunday school just for our ladies! No matter what season of life you find yourself, you will be encouraged by various women of FOHC as they share some of their life stories. We enjoy light snacks along with heavy doses of God’s Word and God’s love.
In the Fall & Spring, we meet on Tuesdays to study God’s Word together via various Bible studies; we also spend time in prayer. Come and experience how the transforming of our minds, through Bible study, brings about conformity to the image of Christ.
Fall Ladies’ Tea
Ladies are invited to a fun time of fellowship, food and devotion in September as we kick off our women’s ministry.
U R Missed & U Matter
This is an opportunity to minister to those who are homebound, in the hospital or in a nursing/assisted care facility to assure them we love them as we make visits and/or phone calls on a regular basis.
Over the years we have collected numerous Bible studies and books relevant to women that are available for your use. Check it out!
This one-on-one type of Bible study and mentoring seeks to fulfill the Great Commission of “making disciples” (Matt.28:19). We have several trained ladies who are eager to share of their Savior’s life and love with you!
TLC: Touching Lives Through Cards
As needs are known, our expression of love, concern and support will be acknowledged through a card of care.
We love our single moms and desire to minister to them through scheduled lunches together as well as other practical ways to meet their needs.
First Friday Friends
This is a Bible study, led by Myra Cantrell, that meets the first Friday of the month.
Elaine Robinson collects material to make pillowcases for distribution to women and children in crisis. This is done as part of the American Patchwork & Quilting 1 Million Pillowcase Challenge. If you desire to be part of this ministry, you can do so in three ways:
- Contribute money toward fabric and thread
- Purchase one yard cuts of 100% cotton fabric (any color, print, or solid – adult and/or juvenile)
- Help sew pillowcases
Deadline — December 2, 2018.
Fabric Donations — Elaine will leave a basket to place fabric donations on the ledge between the cafe and the main lobby.
Retreats are offered as a time of rest, renewal and revival. Guest speakers challenge and encourage us with God’s Word. This is an opportune time to “be still and know that I am God/” (Psalm 46:10).
Apples of Gold
Based on Titus 2:3-5, this is a 8 week time of older women mentoring the younger ones on various topics. Come and experience “apples of gold in settings of silver” (Proverbs 25:11).
Life Giving Home
This ministry is a division of Apples of Gold with annual workshops to encourage women in their roles as life givers in their homes, church and community.
